I have to fucking school this noob!
He says "Fun is learning in a safe-environment"
Geez...what a pussy, he must game in a bomb shelter, single player, noob difficulty. Here is his OH so enlightened first argument as to WoW's wrong doings.
1. Investing a lot of time in something is worth more than actual skill. If you invest more time than someone else, you "deserve" rewards. People who invest less time "do not deserve" rewards.
Well Mr. Icanhaseasymodepls? Time does fucking equal skill as long as your dedicated and intelligent you fucking noob! People who invest less DO NOT DESERVE the rewards because they have no fucking dedication! You think you should get MERCILOUS GLADIATOR by pwning 1 noob in a BG! FUCK YOU! You think I should Insta 70 and full tier 6 for teh BG's to shows mah skillz lol, FUCK YOU! An investment of time is FUCKING skill unless you are a fucking waster! Man who plays his games in BG and relies on the TEAM to pick up his FUCKING slack! YOU DO NOT RAID BLACK TEMPLE AT LVL 5 NOOBS LOLOLOL!!!! L2P! L2-Manage your time!
2. Time > skill is so fundamentally bad, that I'm still going to go on about it even though I started a new number. The "honor system" in World of Warcraft is a disaster that needs to be exposed for health and safety reasons, if nothing else.
L2MakePoint! Getting your honor points is piss easy as long as you don't fucking suck! #1 BG MERCILOUS GLADIATOR candidate is going to have is honor points capped piss easy! It's all about skill MOTHER FUCKER! Will it take time? FUCK YES! Like all good accomplishments it fucking will! I CANNOT HAVE RECORD CONTRACTS AFTER TEH ONE DAY GIG even if I am the fucking best guitarist in the fucking world and when I shred it's like being on every illicit drug at the same time! You still have to work your way up the Food Chain!
3. Group > Solo. Coordinating 40 people is hard, but so is winning a Street Fighter tournament, which you have to do by yourself. Some personality types want to do things with 39 other people, but my personality type certainly doesn't.....Unfortunately, the game offers no difficult solo content leading to good loot. (Note to picky readers: there is some, but it's soooo far out of whack with raid rewards that we can safely ignore it, the same way Blizzard does.) The designers must be so extraverted, that they can't fathom the introvert point of view.
Leave your basement sometime, LOL gg no re! OR better yet when a game says "MASSIVLY MULTIPLAYER!" pay that some fucking heed! Secondly the game designers must be such fucking genious to say "Hey we are making a MASSIVLY MULTIPLAYER game world, lets throw in some high reward, high risk MULTIPLAYER content and focus less time on SINGLE player, I mean Starcraft 2's gunna be announced eventually anyway."
4. Group > Solo. I'm not done with this yet.(again L2MakePoint you fucking noob!) As an introvert, I'm pretty outraged that this game is marginalizing my entire personality type. The developers repeatedly confirm that 40-man raids deserve the most powerful items. Many of the players are brainwashed by this poor assumption, often saying "It's an MMO, of course you have to group with 40 other people do accomplish anything." (yeah he says more stuff but w/e it's stupid)
I IS OFFENDED GAME DO NOT CATERS TO MY PERSONAL TASTES!!! GAME DESIGN IS BAD AND TEACHS BAD THINGS!!! Infact this part of the article dosn't deal with shit all! WoW teachs teamwork in large groups, this maybe hard for you to understand Mr. "alone together" writer however this is very important in life and in certain large groups,organisations/guilds and corperations.
5) Guilds. The tools for creating and maintaining a guild in World of Wacraft seem benevolent enough. After all, they encourage cooperation. Unfortunately, they create a social situation totally alien to me in the real world: a constant "us vs them" mentality.
This arguement is great! I am sads because since I am not in [insert guild here] I do not matter to them. Yes because this never happens in RL. So I can't work for alliance and horde? So I can't browse more than one IRC channel and make no contributions? A guild is like a family, yes they do know other families and certain members do travel between, but you never have people wanting to talk to every single family unit they met in a massive colaberation it dosn't work. Secondly one guild goes back to the dedication thing I mentioned earlier....shitty noob.
6) The Terms of Service. The very idea of using the terms of service as the de facto way to enforce a certain player-behavior goes against everything I've learned. A game should be a system of rules that allow the player to explore. If the player finds loopholes, then the game developer should fix them. It's never, ever the player's fault: it's the game developer's fault.
I can botzors as much as I like!? kthxbye WoW is boring and broken now not my faults! Though more onto his "point." Code has bugs NO MATTER WHAT! ToS keeps the game as fair as possible for the community considering this fact. Secondly your bitching about players not being able to run thier own casinos and rig arena matchs when your saying WoW teaches poor ideals...WTF?
And to finish he says
But we all know that World of Warcraft hasn't really stopped teaching. Although it's ability to teach is highly impaired by the entire "Terms of Service" approach, it's still teaching literally millions of children that time spent is more important than ability and that group activities are strictly superior to personal improvements and self-reliance.
This problem is so troubling, that I feel a personal need to take action. The only thing I can think to do, though, is to design an MMO that teaches the right things. Look for that on store shelves in 2012 or so. For my next trick, I will write a proper Terms of Service for an MMO. Stay tuned.
And to finish I say, World of Warcraft is not a teaching tool, Nor is Ninja Gaiden or Halo or GTA or Guitar Hero(L2P real guitar noob!). WoW was never mean't to teach, go buy a book on family values for your kids.
The world is full of fucking dickheads who will abuse anything, abuse them back when they break good conduct!
Parents > WoW. If a parent isn't encouraging and giving/creating opertunities for their child to improve themselves and relie on themselves then too bad don't blame WoW's.
If people are too foolish to invest their time in WoW properly then too bad.
You won't design such an MMO and it wouldn't sell anyway GG NO RE FUCKING NOOB!
